About this Event
Bellevue people: Here's an opportunity for grown-ups to explore their creativity.
Come draw and paint together - to live music.
Artists Brenda Loukes-Johnson, and Rong Choy and pianista Ann Reynolds will guide you on a journey of creativity, collaboration and connection to create a community painting - with no planned outcome.
It's all about making marks to music and igniting creativity.
Whether you want to just doodle on paper, draw and paint on the large canvas or tap your feet to the music, just by being there, you’ll be part of something bigger as you witness the beauty of the creative process unfold in front of your eyes.
You can’t get this wrong. Or right!
It's all about creativity, connection and collaboration - and the joy that we experience when we create together.
How it will go:
First we'll doodle:
We will take everyone through a short, spontaneous drawing activity on paper, taking a line for a walk in many different ways, with no specific outcome needed.
Then we'll paint:
Join artists Brenda and Rong in adding your marks to one large community canvas. You get to take over and explore, responding to each others' marks on the canvas, and to the music played by pianista Ann Reynolds.
Call and Response is a jazz term for the nature of improvisation, and it's also the nature of connection and communication.
It's going to be a wonderful afternoon of joy-filled creating across the disciplines of music, drawing and painting.
You will leave feeling inspired and uplifted. At the end of the last one in 2024, some people said they even felt ‘happy’.
Come and play.
Wear your oldest clothes.
No art experience needed.
Only adults 15+. (This is a chance for the grown ups to get creative.)
