Pawel (The Browns of California) will be joined by journalist and author David L. Ulin (Sidewalking: Coming to Terms with Los Angeles) to discuss the history of the University of California that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar calls "essential reading."
About the participants:
Miriam Pawel is an author, journalist and independent historian. Her most recent book before California Dreams, The Browns of California, won the California Book Award and was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times book prize in history.
David L. Ulin is Professor of the Practice of English, and editor of the journal Air/Light. He is the author or editor of 20 books, and the former book editor and book critic of the Los Angeles Times.
