About this Event
Join us at Hauser & Wirth Downtown Los Angeles for a screening of three student-directed short films, the culmination of the innovative Cal State LA course Community Impact Media. The films feature nonprofit organizations that support mentorship, media literacy and sustainable community initiatives across Los Angeles: The Collective Identity Mentoring, Media Done Responsibly and Crop Swap LA.
Inspired by Glenn Ligon’s investigation of language and representation, and by Jack Whitten’s technical innovation and exploration of the urban landscape, these student films demonstrate how creative practices can shape collective identity and agency. Themes from the artists’ work provide a framework for engaging with the above organizations, which share a commitment to responding creatively to evolving social conditions and technologies in service of their communities.
This event is free and open to the public. Due to limited seating, reservations are recommended. Click here to register.
