All The Places Closing In is the theme of the second edition of Bustan Film Week. It traces the invisible realities beneath public surfaces and invites us to recognize how bodies and spaces continuously mark one another unfolds as a space of encounter, reflection, and shared cinematic inquiry. Taking place from September 16 to 20, the program brings together Arabic, German, and international films, accompanied by panels, a short film program, and master class.
Bustan Film Week is built on co-curation: each edition is developed in dialogue with partner institutions from Egypt and Germany, opening a conversation between different cinematic languages, social perspectives, and cultural contexts. This year, in collaboration with HerStory Films in Egypt and the Internationales Frauen Film Fest Dortmund+Köln in Germany, the program turns toward feminist cinema as a practice of undoing fixed binaries: private and public, inside and outside, past and present, here and elsewhere, self and other. Rather than treating these categories as opposites, the selected films explore them as porous, contested, and deeply lived spaces.
Across the program, women move through cities, homes, archives, studios, borders, memories, and histories that both shape and confine them. They confront patriarchal oppression, social surveillance, displacement, war, discrimination, and the pressure to perform versions of themselves that are acceptable to the worlds around them. The films insist on complexity, agency, contradiction, anger, resilience, imagination, and the search for self-determined forms of belonging.
This edition is dedicated to films directed by women as the structural conditions in the film industry still remain unequal with the representation of women declining after graduation, particularly beyond their first and second feature films. Therefore, the accompanying program with panels and a master class will address these challenges.
Bustan Film Week provides a space where experiences can be shared, perspectives expanded, and new ways of seeing one another can emerge. The program allows to rethink the complex relationship between the spaces we inhabit and the lives we lead within them, making it possible to imagine them differently.

كلّ الأماكن التي تضيق من حولنا
كلّ الأماكن التي تضيق من حولنا هو عنوان الدورة الثانية من أسبوع أفلام البستان. يتتبع البرنامج الحقائق غير المرئية الكامنة تحت الأسطح العامة، ويدعونا إلى التعرّف على الكيفية التي تترك بها الأجساد والأمكنة أثرها في بعضها بعضًا باستمرار، لينفتح بذلك على مساحة للّقاء والتأمل والاستقصاء السينمائي المشترك. ويقام البرنامج في الفترة من 16 إلى 20 سبتمبر، ويجمع أفلامًا عربية وألمانية ودولية، إلى جانب حلقات نقاشية، وبرنامج للأفلام القصيرة، وورشة عمل.
يقوم أسبوع افلام البستان على مفهوم البرمجة المشتركة؛ إذ تُطوَّر كل دورة من خلال حوار مع مؤسسات شريكة من مصر وألمانيا، بما يفتح نقاشًا بين لغات سينمائية مختلفة، ووجهات نظر اجتماعية، وسياقات ثقافية متنوّعة. وفي هذا العام، وبالتعاون مع HerStory Films في مصر وInternationales Frauen Film Fest Dortmund+Köln في ألمانيا، يتجه البرنامج نحو السينما النسوية بوصفها ممارسة لتفكيك الثنائيات الراسخة: الخاص والعام، الداخل والخارج، الماضي والحاضر، هنا وهناك، الذات والآخر. وبدلًا من التعامل مع هذه الفئات باعتبارها متناقضات، تستكشف الأفلام المختارة هذه المساحات بوصفها مساحات متداخلة، ومتنازعًا عليها، ومعاشة بعمق.
على امتداد البرنامج، تتحرك النساء بين مدن وبيوت وأرشيفات واستوديوهات وحدود وذكريات وتواريخ، وهي مساحات تشكّل حياتهن بقدر ما تفرض عليهن القيود. ويواجهن القمع الأبوي، والرقابة الاجتماعية، والتهجير، والحرب، والتمييز، والضغط لتقديم صور عن ذواتهن تتوافق مع ما تقبله العوالم المحيطة بهن. وتصرّ الأفلام على إبراز التعقيد، والقدرة على الفعل، والتناقض، والغضب، والصمود، والخيال، والسعي إلى أشكال من الانتماء يحددنها بأنفسهن.
تُكرَّس هذه الدورة للأفلام من إخراج النساء، في ظل استمرار عدم تكافؤ الظروف البنيوية في صناعة السينما، مع تراجع تمثيل النساء بعد التخرج، ولا سيما فيما يتجاوز إخراج الفيلم الروائي الطويل الأول والثاني. ومن هنا، يتناول البرنامج المصاحب، بما يشمله من حلقات نقاشية ودورة متقدمة، هذه التحديات.
يوفّر أسبوع افلام البستان مساحة لتبادل التجارب، وتوسيع وجهات النظر، وظهور طرق جديدة لرؤية بعضنا بعضًا. كما يتيح البرنامج إعادة التفكير في العلاقة المعقدة بين الأماكن التي نسكنها والحيوات التي نعيشها داخلها، ويفتح المجال لتخيّل هذه الأماكن والحيوات بصورة مختلفة.
