Be a part of our flash mob of readers! With traditional book clubs, there's always the scramble to finish the book and the pressure to have something smart to say. At Silent Book Club, there's no assigned reading. Just bring a book, chat with your neighbors, and enjoy an hour of quiet companionable reading in a space full of people doing the same thing!Here's how this low-key monthly event goes down:
-2:00-2:30 - Get settled. Get a drink/snack, grab a seat, chat until it's time to read
-2:30-3:30 - The reading hour! The organizer will go around and encourage everyone to pick up their books and read
-3:30-4:00 - Close out. Stick around to chat more, or keep reading. Choose your own adventure, this is whatever you want it to be!
This month, we're back at Juniper Bar & Restaurant at Hotel Vermont in Burlington (but indoors this time). Bring a book, enjoy light bites and a full drink menu, and make a new friend or two!
Tips:
-We should have plenty of space for folks in the lobby/restaurant area, but recommend arriving on time to grab a seat
-Coming solo or for the first time? We very much encourage this, and you will not be the only one!
-If you're sensitive to background noise/music, bring headphones for the reading hour (but it should be a relaxed environment)
-If you're driving, parking at meters or in garages is free on Sundays! The Downtown Garage next door is closest (entrance at 41 Cherry St)
