About this Event

Build your path to contract opportunities.

Three classes, three dates: November 12, 2026; December 10, 2026; and January 14, 2027. Each class meets from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mountain Time at The Garrison. Choose one class or the full series. The date range on this listing covers the series; instruction takes place only on these three dates.

Thrive in Your City presents Built to Bid, practical procurement training for owners in concrete, roofing, electrical, HVAC, construction and related trades.

Business owners teaching business owners. Our instructors actively pursue bids and deliver client work, teaching a repeatable process that generates value. This cohort is for growth-minded entrepreneurs ready to do the preparation and pursue opportunities. That hands-on approach is why this launch is limited to 10 registrations.

Your three-class path

November 12, 2026: Local Procurement Foundations
Identify local buyers, review business documents and build a procurement readiness action plan.

December 10, 2026: State and Regional Procurement
Explore Texas purchasing systems, teaming and subcontracting opportunities, then develop your strategy for pursuing work.

January 14, 2027: Federal Contracting
Evaluate federal opportunities, work through registration and eligibility requirements, and build an entry strategy and bid preparation checklist.

All classes: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mountain Time
Venue: The Garrison, 420 E San Antonio Ave, El Paso, TX 79901.

Prepare to compete in a broader buying market

Explore direct contracts, subcontracting and teaming as routes to work with federal buyers such as DoD/Fort Bliss and DHS; state buyers such as TxDOT; local buyers such as the City, County, schools, El Paso Water and UTEP; and utilities such as El Paso Electric.

We address administrative readiness, finding relevant opportunities across separate purchasing systems, planning capacity and teaming for bigger jobs, and reaching the right buyers. Subcontracting can be an entry route as you build experience and a track record.

The combined-series goal

Our goal is an operating procurement process you can put to work:

  • Relevant vendor-system onboarding.
  • SAM/UEI/CAGE steps and eligible small-business certification applications completed where feasible, with pending approvals tracked.
  • Capability materials and teaming templates.
  • A bid/no-bid checklist to help evaluate opportunities.
  • Reusable agentic-AI workflows for research and human-reviewed bid preparation.

Free Kanban and Six Sigma training helps owners manage procurement as a project. Guided exercises, checklists and course materials are included.

These are goals for the combined three-session series. Your progress depends on your starting point, eligibility, preparation and follow-through. Agency approvals and contract awards remain outside our control.
