This panel discussion marks the launch of Building NHS Resilience to Ransomware: Central Oversight and Shared Capability, a new white paper from the KCL Cyber Security Research Group, supported by Halcyon. Monica Kello and Steve Hill will present the key findings and recommendations of the report, followed by a conversation with senior health sector leaders on the practical and governance challenges of strengthening cyber resilience across a complex and decentralised system.

About the speakers

Mike Fell is Executive Director of National Cyber Security Operations at NHS England. Mike has spent 15 years in range of security roles for the UK Government. He has accountability for the security of NHS England's systems and the cyber resilience of the NHS in England. Prior to this Mike spent six years as the Head of Cyber Security Operations and latterly as Deputy Chief Security Officer for HMRC.

Monica Kello is a Lecturer in War Studies (Cyber Security) and Co-Director of the Cyber Security Research Group in the Department of War Studies. Her research focuses on cyber strategy, international cyber conflict, and the strategic implications of new technologies.

Steve Hill is an Honorary Professor in the Department of War Studies at King’s College London. He is an independent board risk adviser, working with organisations including PwC UK, Dell Technologies, Twine Security, ABC News Network, Global Citizen, and the FBI–Fordham International Conference on Cyber Security. He was previously the Group Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Credit Suisse and has held Managing Director roles focused on cybersecurity risk and operational resilience.

Oliver Newbury is Chief Strategy Officer at Halcyon, where he leads the company’s strategic growth and supports its global expansion. He previously served as Global Chief Information Security Officer at Barclays and as Chief Technology Officer for BT’s Security Division, leading major cybersecurity transformation programmes. Alongside his role at Halcyon, Oliver is a Strategic Advisor to TPG and GALLOS Technologies and a board member of Immersive Labs.
