About this Event

Bani Ādam: A Night of Reciprocity though Film, Food & Art
An Iranian buffet, free chai with sugar cubes, rugs on the floor, a small library in the corner, projection of artworks by artist Affsoongar, short films, poetry, conversation, and people.

This is an evening that holds the spirit of Sa'adi's 13th century poem:

"human beings are members of a whole, in creation of one essence and soul.",

Where we can let art and reciprocity orient us into each other's presence.

The films we're screening are honest, and some of the material carries a heavy weight that might be triggering to some (more information below). We are engaging with and celebrating the many expressions and explorations of Iranian artists. Art is one of the rare forms of witness that doesn't come bound with rules and action, but simply allows us to be present with whatever the work may bring. We invite to come and be present with us.

After the screenings there is no structured debrief. There is more chai, a library of books and poetry by the Iranian diaspora to move through, and room to talk (or not).

Come ready to feel something and sit with strangers who might not feel like strangers by the end.

  • Worlding — keeping our creative hub open for cross‑cultural collaboration.
  • — providing vital aid and advocacy for displaced people across the Balkans and Greece.
  • — an Iranian artist whose work depicts a femme fatale alter-ego challenging convention and reclaiming myth. Drawing from Persian miniatures, ancient creatures, and Qahveh Khaneh paintings, Affsoongar's art reimagines these worlds through her own lens — where strength and vulnerability intertwine.
