About this Event
On the final day of Muslim Heritage Month, we invite you to discover the beauty of the Aga Khan Centre.
The Aga Khan Centre is designed to represent the values of openness, dialogue and respect for pluralism. The architecture incorporates a collection of gardens, courtyards and terraces that provide an insight into the diversity and influence of Islamic landscape design around the world and through history. Throughout the building you will find examples of different styles of Islamic art, and visit the Aga Khan Library with over 50,000 books.
As part of your tour, you will also have the oppurtunity to visit our latest gallery exhibiton, Canticle of the Birds, and be introduced to its multimedia content by Aga Khan Gallery Curator Esen Kaya. The exhibition is based around Attar’s 12th-century Persian poem The Conference of the Birds and tells the allegorical story of birds on a quest for the mythical simurgh through the work of contemporary artists working in a variety of artistic traditions.
