About this Event
Building Industry Meetup
Running a building or trade business can be a lot.
There’s the work itself, the people, the clients, the cash flow, the paperwork, the decisions… and often a family or life squeezed in around the edges.
Sometimes it helps to get out of your own business for an afternoon and spend time with people who understand the world you work in.
That’s what our Building Industry Meetup is about.
We bring together builders, tradies, building designers, suppliers, subcontractors and small business owners working in the building industry for a relaxed afternoon of conversation and connection.
There are no formal pitches, no referral targets and no pressure to work the room.
Grab a drink, meet a few good people and see where the conversations take you.
You might find the person you’ve been looking for.
You might uncover a connection you didn’t know you had.
You might hear an idea that makes something in your business a little easier.
Or you might simply enjoy being around people who understand what it’s like to run a business in this industry.
What happens at the meetup?
We keep things simple.
Come in, grab a drink and have a chat.
We’ll help make introductions where we can, especially when we know two people should meet.
You’ll find a mix of familiar faces and people joining us for the first time, with conversations happening across trades, building, design, supply and the businesses that support the industry.
The aim isn’t to collect the most business cards.
It’s to build relationships with people you’d actually be happy to call, recommend or introduce to someone else.
Who is it for?
Building Connections is for people IN the building industry, including:
- Builders and construction businesses
- Tradies and subcontractors
- Building designers, architects and consultants
- Suppliers and manufacturers
- Couples and families running businesses together
- Sole traders and small business owners working across the industry
We also welcome professional service providers who work closely with building and trade businesses.
A little note for service providers
One of the things that makes this meetup different is the balance of the room.
We intentionally want builders, tradies and people actively working within the industry to remain at the heart of it.
So if you’re an accountant, bookkeeper, marketer, finance broker, coach, IT provider, web developer or other professional service provider, we ask you to bring along a builder, tradie, client or industry contact with you.
Think of it as an opportunity to invite one of your good clients out for a drink and introduce them to a few new people.
It helps us keep Building Connections true to its purpose — a networking community built around the building industry.
Why come along?
Because good connections make business easier.
Having the right people around you can mean knowing who to call when a job needs something outside your lane, getting another perspective when you’re stuck, finding someone you trust enough to refer, or having people in your corner who understand the pressures that come with running a business.
And sometimes it’s simply nice to walk into a room where you don’t have to explain the industry before you start the conversation.
