Inside the Building Equitable Boards Report and strategies for Central Texas nonprofits
About this Event
Central Texas has made real progress getting leaders of color onto nonprofit boards. But what happens once they’re in the room?
The New Philanthropists’ new report, Building Equitable Boards, found that 1 in 3 BIPOC board members experienced or witnessed bias. Only half feel confident fundraising, and many are pulled into staff-like work that leads to burnout.
Join The New Philanthropists in partnership with I Live Here I Give Here for a lunch and learn on what the data shows and what boards can do about it. You’ll leave with practical strategies for onboarding, fundraising, and building real pathways to leadership. We’ll provide light bites. Feel free to bring your own lunch.
Speakers:
Denisha Jenkins, Executive Director, The New Philanthropists
Dr. Elisha Smith Arrillaga, Ph.D., Vice President, Research, Center for Effective Philanthropy
Who should attend: Executive directors, board chairs, governance committees, funders, and current or aspiring board members.
