About this Event

Build a Business Worth Leaving

Whether you’re thinking about selling your business in the next few years, passing it on to family or employees, or you have no idea when—or how—you’ll eventually step away, the best time to start thinking about your exit is before you need one.

Exit with Intention brings six local professionals together for an interactive evening designed to help business owners understand the full picture of exit planning—from preparing yourself personally and financially to building a business that can successfully operate and transfer without you.

This isn’t a seminar, and you won’t spend the evening listening to six presentations. The conversation is the event. You’ll get an overview of the exit planning journey, then the discussion will be shaped around the questions business owners in the room actually want answered.

We’ll explore questions like:
  • What is my business actually worth—and is that enough for me to exit?
  • When should I start preparing if I want to step away in the next few years?
  • What makes a business more valuable and attractive to a buyer?
  • How do I build a business that doesn’t depend entirely on me?
  • What systems, people, processes, and documentation need to be in place?
  • What does the actual sale process look like?
  • What legal pieces should I have in order before a buyer enters the picture?
  • How do I financially prepare for life after the business?
  • And maybe the question owners think about the least: What do I want my life to look like when the business is no longer at the center of it?

The panel will look at exit planning from the personal, financial, operational, valuation, transaction, and legal perspectives—giving you a chance to see how those pieces fit together rather than encountering them one at a time.

The facilitated panel conversation will be followed by time to connect with the panelists and other local business owners, with food provided.

Bring Your Questions

When you register, we’ll ask you to submit the top questions you have about eventually leaving your business. Those questions will help shape the conversation, and you’ll also have opportunities to ask questions throughout the evening.

The goal is simple: come with questions and leave with a clearer understanding of where you are, what you need to think about, and what your next steps could look like. The planning document specifically calls for audience questions to take priority over the prepared moderator question bank.

Who Should Attend?

This event is designed for business owners at any stage of thinking about their eventual exit—from owners actively preparing to sell to those who simply want to understand their options long before they have to make a decision.

You do not need to be ready to sell to benefit from the conversation. Many of the things that make a business easier to sell someday also make it stronger, more resilient, and less dependent on its owner today.
