Step inside the White House... without leaving the room! This talk takes you behind the scenes of an immersive digital installation at the People’s House, built in collaboration with Cortina Productions and the White House Historical Association, one that transformed a plain rectangular exhibit space into interactable, digital recreations of iconic rooms in the White House. How do you turn 3D scans and software used to make video games into a space that feels historically accurate down to the last detail? What does it take to make an interactive exhibit welcoming for every visitor, regardless of age or ability? And what can this project teach us about designing immersive experiences more broadly for museums, classrooms, or any physical space we want people to feel something in? Together, we will explore how we can turn big ideas into spaces you can walk through.
