Otvárajú témy práce s kultúrnym dedičstvom modernej architektúry, jeho ochrany a adaptácie. Celodenný program tieto otázky otvára, kriticky na ne odpovedá a hľadá prepojenia s aktuálnymi témami verejného priestoru a udržateľnej architektúry.

◼️ Profesor Tim Rieniets - Umbaukultur. Pre novú architektúru, ktorá nepotrebuje nové budovy.
Prodekan pre vzdelávanie na Fakulte nemeckej Leibniz univerzity v Hannoveri. Vedie oddelenie Stadt und Transformation (Mesto a transformácia) a zameriava sa na Umbaukultur - kultúru prestavby a adaptívneho opätovného využívania budov - a udržateľnú architektúru, ktorá uprednostňuje existujúce štruktúry pred novou výstavbou.
◼️Rotor / Tom Schoonjans (BE) - Od architektúry k prvkom: opätovné využívanie povojnových stavebných materiálov
Belgický architekt a projektový manažér, člen renomovaného bruselského kolektívu Rotor, v rámci ktorého sa venuje výskumu a poradenstvu pri opätovnom využívaní stavebných materiálov priamo v praxi.
◼️ Vladimír 518 (CZ) - Architektura 58–89
Významná osobnosť českej hip-hopovej scény, subkultúry a vizuálneho umenia. Autor a editor úspešného knižného aj televízneho projektu Architektura 58-89 predstaví kľúčové stavby, autorov a tvorivé stratégie československého povojnového modernizmu.
Sprievodné podujatia:
◼️ Komentovaná prehliadka ODA vedená zakladateľom trenčianskeho občianskeho združenia archiTN Martinom Jurikovičom odhalí kontext vzniku budovy spojený s asanáciou pôvodnej zástavby na Hviezdoslavovej ulici. Ukáže urbanistické a architektonické riešenie širšej lokality aj alternatívne návrhy budovy zo 70. rokov 20. storočia. Súčasťou bude aj prehliadka interiérov ODA vrátane výtvarných realizácií.
◼️ Fragment výstavy Citlivo o brutalizme Olje Triašky Stefanovič, ktorá v rokoch 2025 - 2026 zachytávala brutalistické stavby Trenčianskeho kraja. Celú výstavu si budú môcť záujemkyne a záujemci pozrieť v Galérii M. A. Bazovského od 15.10. 2026.
◼️ Koncert Vladimír 518 prinesie do Trenčína intenzívny, vizuálne nabitý rapový set – surová energia, výrazná estetika a podpis pražského undergroundu v koncentrovanej podobe.
Bude to brutálne. 🧱

Brutálne sympózium organizuje trenčianskej občianske združenie Projekt HLAVA 5. Je to aktivita projektu Citlivo o brutalizme, ktorý je súčasťou Európskeho hlavného mesta kultúry Trenčín 2026. A full-day interdisciplinary conference exploring the connections between post-war architecture and contemporary approaches to urban development, public space and cultural heritage. 🧱 🏗️ The conference will bring together organisations, initiatives and individuals working with places and buildings that exist on the margins of attention – from photography and research through publishing to architectural and urban planning practice. They will explore questions surrounding the cultural heritage of modern architecture, its preservation and adaptation. The full-day programme will open up these questions, address them critically and seek connections with current issues in public space and sustainable architecture.
Among the speakers:
◼️ Professor Tim Rieniets – Umbaukultur. For a new architecture that does not need new buildings.
Vice Dean for Education at the Faculty of Architecture at Leibniz University Hannover. He heads the Stadt und Transformation (City and Transformation) department and focuses on Umbaukultur – a culture of transformation, refurbishment and adaptive reuse of buildings – as well as sustainable architecture that prioritises existing structures over new construction.
◼️ Rotor / Tom Schoonjans (BE) – From architecture to elements: reusing post-war building materials
Belgian architect and project manager, and a member of the renowned Brussels-based collective Rotor, where he works on research and consultancy related to the practical reuse of building materials.
◼️ Vladimír 518 (CZ) – Architektura 58–89
A prominent figure in the Czech hip-hop scene, subculture and visual arts. The author and editor of the successful book and television project Architektura 58–89 will present key buildings, architects and creative strategies of Czechoslovak post-war modernism.
Accompanying events:
◼️ A guided tour of ODA, led by Martin Jurikovič, founder of the Trenčín-based civic association archiTN, will reveal the context in which the building was created, including its connection to the demolition of the original development on Hviezdoslavova Street. The tour will present the urban and architectural design of the wider area, as well as alternative designs for the building from the 1970s. It will also include a tour of ODA’s interiors, including its artworks and artistic installations.
◼️ A fragment of the exhibition Feeling the Brutal by Olja Triaška Stefanovič, which documented brutalist buildings across the Trenčín Region in 2025–2026. The full exhibition will be on view at the Galéria M. A. Bazovského from 15 October 2026.
◼️ A concert by Vladimír 518 will bring an intense, visually charged rap set to Trenčín – raw energy, a distinctive aesthetic and the signature sound of Prague’s underground scene in concentrated form.
It’s going to be brutal. 🧱

Brutal symposium is organised by the Trenčín civic association Projekt HLAVA 5. It is an activity of the Sensitively on Brutalism project, which is part of the European Capital of Culture Trenčín 2026. Trenčín 2026 is financially supported by the City of Trenčín, the Trenčín Self-Governing Region and the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic. The European Union is a project partner.
