Brooklyn Chats with Host Patrick Sauer
Featuring Jonathan Mahler, author of The Gods of New York: Egotists, Idealists, Opportunists, and the Birth of the Modern City: 1986-1990
Tickets $10 (wine included)
Brooklyn Chats is a new series of author talks hosted by Patrick Sauer (co-host of the Squawkin' Sports series), with a focus on books you may have missed the first time around, often with a connection to our beloved borough. At tonight's event, Sauer talks with Jonathan Mahler, staff writer for The New York Times Magazine and award-winning author of the bestselling Ladies and Gentlemen, the Bronx Is Burning, about his newest book of New York history. Focusing on four year's at the end of the 1980s, The Gods of New York is an exuberant, kaleidoscopic, and deeply immersive portrait of a city in transformation, populated by outsized characters and new movements for change. Ticketholders enjoy complementary drinks curated by Heritage Wines. Books available for preorder or onsite purchase. Book signing to follow.
