About this Event

Discovering the History of Humanity from its origins millions of years ago is possible without leaving London. With our British Museum Tour you will be able to discover, together with an official guide in English and an expert in the subject, the main pieces of the most outstanding cultures that have populated our planet. Part of the legacy of the Egyptians, the Greeks or the Aztecs are waiting for you in one of the most visited museums in the world.

We will begin our visit outside, at the entrance to the museum, where we will see its resemblance to some of the constructions of Classical Greece, such as the Parthenon of Athens. Its large size will give us a clue to the countless works of art that can be found inside. After learning about the history of the building, we will continue through the Central Hall, the largest covered courtyard in Europe.

We will move on to the Enlightenment room, the oldest room in the museum, which houses a collection of over 60,000 books by King George III, as well as other collections of private origin. We will continue our journey to immerse ourselves in the culture of Ancient Egypt, where we will learn all the details of the Egyptian funeral rites in different periods, as well as the imposing sculptures representing their gods, pharaohs and prominent figures.

Our journey to the past continues to the East, specifically to the Assyrian civilisation, which occupied the north of ancient Mesopotamia and of which we can currently find numerous pieces in the British Museum, such as the Lamassus that protected the gates of the cities or palaces of this empire.

The Greeks are another of the cultures that have left a great historical legacy. Continuing our visit, we will find an important part of the structure of the Parthenon of Athens. In this room we will delve into Greek mythology, while exploring the sculptural representations that were designed for each of the parts of which this marble temple dedicated to the goddess Athena was composed.

We will end our visit discovering various Aztec pieces and other Mesoamerican cultures after having met Hoa Hakananai'a, a moai from Easter Island that is more than two metres high. If you want to travel the world in just a few hours and delve into all its history, book our British Museum Tour now!
