About this Event
A practical, beautiful companion full of daily essentials for avoiding overwhelm and finding comfort, clarity and calm, from the bestselling author of Life is Tough (But So Are You).
As the saying goes, life is short — but also looooooooong. Pick Me Up is for the days that aren't catastrophic, but still feel like a LOT. It's for the Tuesday blahs, the quiet car cries, the 3pm slumps. The middle-of-the-night, what-even-is-life moments. It's for the mess and muddle of life, a sparkly handbook to bring you back to where you'd one day like to be.
Bestselling author, cancer survivor and joy ambassador Briony Benjamin knows that life can get heavy, whether from healing and recovery, the cost-of-living crisis, climate anxiety or global despair. Maybe you're in the middle of a big new challenge, or simply in a 'meh' phase? If life is feeling hard, you're in the right place.
Forget 5am ice baths and 7-day cures, Briony offers gentle, real-world self-care to meet you where you are, such as:
– Simple ways to immediately switch on your body's calm mode
– The one thing you should do when you feel completely stuck
– How (and why) to shift the story you're telling your body
– Gratitude hacks for people who think gratitude is lame
– Why your home should be weirder
– How to keep caring about the world while still carrying on
Full of humour and inspiration, Pick Me Up is for anyone who feels like they're in a leaking dinghy in the middle of a cyclone. It's a promise that there are clearer days ahead and you can ride out the storm without flipping over.
About the author
Briony Benjamin is a writer, speaker and enthusiastic believer that things can get better even when they feel pretty cooked. She was working as a producer and director when life threw her a dramatic curveball: a stage four blood cancer diagnosis at age 31. She doesn't recommend that as a personal growth strategy, but the experience taught her a lot about what actually matters, and how to keep going when everything feels completely hopeless. It also led her to write her bestselling first book, Life Is Tough (But So Are You), a heartfelt guide to navigating life's hardest chapters. Her new book, Pick Me Up, is for the rest of life too, from the big life-altering moments to those very ordinary Tuesdays that just feel a bit too much. Part hug, part handbook, it's full of simple, real-world ways to feel calmer, lighter and more like yourself again. Briony cares deeply about this one wild, beautiful planet we're all sharing and the people on it. She's also a mum of two boys, which is its own full-contact sport.
