Join Base resident artist Ellie Kerr-Smiley to develop your artistic skills in a relaxed art class.What to expect:
Ellie will help you develop your art skills or teach you some basics if you are new to art.
The space will be a friendly and welcoming environment for you and your baby, with plenty of space for prams along with comfy floor mats and beanbags. These sessions are open to all abilities, whatever your experience of art may be. Suited to babies under 12 months.
What to bring/wear:
Ellie provides all art materials for the sessions, but you are welcome to bring any materials you enjoy working with. These are relaxed sessions so we suggest wearing comfortable clothing which you don't mind getting messy.

Taking time out to explore your own creativity in a relaxing and friendly environment can be beneficial to you and your baby. Joining these sessions can be a great way to meet others and share experiences, offering a holistic approach to early parenthood and child development.
Who is your tutor:
Ellie is a portrait artist with a focus on the depiction of women but also extends her subjects to pets and things that inspire her. Ellie works in both acrylics and oils and is a big believer in not needing expensive items to create art. She paints on paper, plywood or occasionally found materials. Ellie's main philosophy is to just create, no matter what. Ellie is a Base resident artist and alongside commission work, Ellie teaches all ages from her studio at The Base, in schools and at local venues.
