BRIGID’S FLAMEAn Imbolc Gathering & Sacred Cross Workshop
As winter begins to soften and the light slowly returns, we gather to celebrate Imbolc—a beautiful seasonal festival honouring renewal, purification, inspiration and the first quiet stirrings of spring.
At the heart of this gathering is Brigid, traditionally associated with poetry, healing, smithcraft, the hearth and sacred flame.
Join us for a warm and magical afternoon filled with folklore, creativity, tea and community as we explore the traditions of Imbolc and create our own Brigid’s Cross to take home.
THE MAGIC OF IMBOLC
Together we’ll explore the history, folklore and traditions surrounding Imbolc, including:
* The meaning of Imbolc and its place on the Wheel of the Year
* Brigid, her sacred flame and her many associations
* Fire, candles and the returning light
* Purification, renewal and preparing for spring
* Hearth and home traditions
* Simple ways to celebrate Imbolc in your own home and spiritual practice
* The folklore and meaning behind Brigid’s Cross
CREATE YOUR OWN BRIGID’S CROSS
One of the most recognizable traditions associated with Brigid is the weaving of Brigid’s Cross.
Traditionally woven around Imbolc and placed within the home, Brigid’s Cross has long been associated with blessing, protection, the hearth and welcoming Brigid into the home.
I’ll guide you step-by-step as you weave your own cross to take home.
No experience is needed. Imperfect weaving is absolutely welcome. This is about slowing down, working with your hands and connecting with an old seasonal tradition.
There is something so meaningful about creating an item with your own hands, knowing it will become part of your home and perhaps even a tradition you carry forward year after year.
A LITTLE IMBOLC MAGIC
We’ll finish our time together with a simple Imbolc intention ritual, reflecting on what has been resting within us through winter and what we are ready to begin nurturing as the light returns.
What are you ready to awaken?
What tiny seed of an idea, dream or intention is beginning to stir?
What are you ready to invite back into the light?
Imbolc reminds us that even when the world appears frozen and still, life is quietly preparing to bloom beneath the surface.
And perhaps we are, too.
TEA, TREATS & COMMUNITY
Of course, no cozy winter gathering would be complete without a pot of tea and something delicious.
We’ll enjoy warm tea and light snacks while we craft, learn, visit and share a little magic together.
Come exactly as you are. You do not need to follow a particular spiritual path or know anything about Imbolc or Brigid beforehand. Curiosity is more than enough.
All supplies for your Brigid’s Cross are included.
