Across oceans, mountains, and generations, songs have carried stories with them.
Bright Is the Ring of Words explores the rich musical and poetic connections between Ireland, Scotland, England, and the Appalachian Mountains of the United States. Through choral settings of poetry, sacred texts, and folk traditions, this evocative program traces how melodies, words, and stories traveled across the Atlantic and took root in a new landscape. Featuring music by James Q. Mulholland, Dan Forrest, Shawn Kirchner, and others, the concert celebrates the enduring connection between music and memory—and the ways our shared traditions continue to shape the songs we sing today. Join us for a thoughtful and moving musical journey through history, literature, and place.
