Bridging the Bench: A Suds for a Cause Mixer
A SciBRIDGE × SciTEAM Collaboration — hosted at DAS Biergarten
Grad SciBRIDGE and SciTEAM are joining forces for an evening that bridges the bench across academic labs, biotech, and pharma. Bridging the Bench brings together graduate students, postdocs, and PIs from Max Planck Florida (MPFI), Scripps, and FAU alongside SciBRIDGE members and local biotech/pharma professionals — all in one room, raising a glass for a good cause.

🕔 Time: 5:00 – 7:00 PM (Happy Hour drinks & food 5–6 PM) • Live music starting at 6 PM
What to expect:
- Casual networking across institutions — put faces to names and meet your local scientific community
- Live music starting at 6 PM
- A raffle for a cause, featuring a DAS Beer Tasting Certificate, a Yoga Joint pass, and a beach wagon with proceeds supporting Light The Night

This event supports Akron Bio's Light The Night subteam, Team SciBRIDGE, made up of members of Grad SciBRIDGE and distinguished undergraduate researchers from their labs.
About the cause:
Light The Night is Blood Cancer United's signature fundraising campaign, uniting communities to support those affected by blood cancers and fund research that brings the world closer to cures. Every dollar raised helps fund groundbreaking research, patient support services, and awareness efforts — bringing hope to patients and families facing blood cancer every day. These necessary funds could go to families needing translation services, help with groceries or rent, or transportation to treatment, just to name a few services. About the Team:
As part of Akron Bio's Light The Night team, members of Grad SciBRIDGE, together with distinguished undergraduate researchers from their labs, have united in a meaningful mission to raise critical funds. Leading the charge is Team Captain Alexis Martin, who spent four years at Akron Bio before returning to school for her PhD — giving her a firsthand understanding of the vital role biotech plays in advancing cancer treatment. Joining her is fellow PhD lab mate Camille Cook, whose research is focused on the fight against cancer, and Joshua Abraham, a graduate of FAU's Professional Science Masters program now breaking into industry. Rounding out the team are undergraduate researchers Christopher Garrido, an aspiring medical school candidate, and Zyruz Lopez, who plans to enter industry before returning for graduate studies. The team is proudly mentored by Rachael Atlee, guiding the next generation of scientists as they unite for a cause that touches lives far beyond the lab.
