Held annually on the first Saturday in November in the historic Somerset town of Bridgwater, this iconic event has celebrated the failure of the 1605 Gunpowder Plot for centuries. Today, it has evolved into an extraordinary showcase of light, sound, and spectacular pageantry that attracts thousands of spectators from across the country.
Excursion Highlights
The Procession: Watch over 50 magnificent, hand-crafted carnival carts—measuring up to 100 feet long, 16 feet high, and illuminated by thousands of lights—wind through the 1.7-mile route.
Live Entertainment: Enjoy a vibrant mix of masqueraders, marching bands, and performers accompanying the procession, taking over two hours to pass any single viewing location.
Reserved Grandstand Seating: Enjoy the procession in complete comfort with guaranteed reserved grandstand seats situated along the primary route.
The "Squibbing" Finale: Experience Bridgwater’s signature finale—a traditional, synchronized handheld firework display that lights up the town center.
