About Brent Funkhouser:
Singer-songwriter Brent Funkhouser’s brand of americana is inseparable from the principles that defined his upbringing: hard work, empathy, and community. Growing up in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, Brent’s early creative exploits took many forms before finding one that stuck: songwriting. Now residing in the DC Metro area, Brent’s meticulously crafted lyrics reflect the experience of rural transplants trying to find their way in a new world with hearts still tied to the one they were born into.
Brent has played 400+ shows across 9 states, including shows opening for Judy Collins, The Local Honeys, Phil Vassar, JP Harris,, and Magnolia Boulevard. In 2022 Brent founded an independent record label and concert production company, Red Moon Recordings, through which he hosted two concert series showcasing Virginia-based artists, The Travelin’ Round and The Beltway Opry. His 2nd album, Homegrown, was released July 17th, 2026.
