BRENDA M. GRAJEDA - SIGHTS UNSEEN
GALLERY236 is pleased to present their first solo exhibition with artist Brenda M. Grajeda opening on October 10th, 2026 running through November 21st, 2026. Sights Unseen is a contemplative overview spanning 30 years of her powerful, textural work inspired by nature. She is a Los Angeles native who currently resides in Colorado which allows her to further her practice and be closer to the rhythms of the natural world. The exhibition displays over 20 of her oils on canvas in addition to her collages and other works on paper while a more intimate space at the gallery houses an organic, three dimensional series: Revealing the Unseen.
Color, movement, texture and intuition find their way into the quiet places of the soul – this is the work of Brenda M. Grajeda. It represents a journey of expression and the discovery of meaning: the magic in one's mind and its connection to the eyes; an opening to all that is seen and unseen, not only what we look at, but also to what lives inside us.
From the noise of the city, the roar of the ocean, or the quiet of the woods, an unseen source drives her. Inspiration can happen anytime or anywhere: something seen, mostly in nature - a shape, a combination of colors and textures, or a light change that can only be seen at sea, the mid-season color transitions of a grassy meadow, or an approaching monsoon storm.
Her paintings will take you from a calm, contemplative mindset to explosive blasts of color that demand your attention, to questions about society, the choices we make and the choices pushed upon us.
