An Immersive Evening of Smokey, Sultry Jazz.The Brenda Lee Jazz Quintet makes its much-anticipated return to The Ellington Jazz Club for a night of deep, contemplative, and energizing music. The setlist will be a captivating journey through cool jazz, bossa nova, swing, and unforgettable ballads, celebrating the greats like Chet Baker, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Miles Davis, and more.
Brenda Lee, with her sultry vocals and "quiet sophistication" (Phill Fest), connects voice and heart. A WAAPA and Sydney Conservatorium-trained artist, she has performed internationally from New York to Kuala Lumpur.
She is joined by an all-star band:
Mike Nelson (Keys): WAAPA jazz studies pioneer who has worked with icons like Shirley Bassey.
Tom Berkmann (Bass): Award-winning German composer and virtuoso who has performed at Carnegie Hall and the Berlin Philharmonic.
William Chiew (Drums): A devotee of classic swing, leading his own bands including Rubaclava.
Lachie Glover (Sax): A prodigious talent and multi-time James Morrison Scholarship finalist.
