A walk in a different area of West Ealing to our Black Histories Walk. This time East of Drayton Green Road and Northfields Avenue
Join the Ealing Walking Talking and Exploring Group, GOSAD, and Talking and Exploring for a special walk in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, funded by Ealing Council. This special route begins with a guided stroll through the neighborhood's rich heritage, winding its way to The Impact Hub for our guest talks and breast cancer awareness session.
Highlights of the Route:Historic West Ealing: Meeting near the Drayton Arms, we will set off past the station along the Avenue, uncovering the history of Stevens Town, a historic Healing shop, and more.Hidden Gems: Cross the railway to explore quiet side streets featuring beautiful hidden mosaics and a local mini-garden.Community & Culture: Cross Uxbridge Road to view the Hindu Temple and St John’s Church, learning about the vital work Ealing Soup Kitchen volunteers do to support the homeless.Local Heritage & The Hub: Pass the oldest allotments in London and walk past the Lido Centre to learn about its history.
From there, we will cross Northfields Avenue to arrive at The Impact Hub.Talks & Awareness at The Hub:We will finish our walk at The Impact Hub, where we will gather to hear vital information about breast cancer awareness and listen to an inspiring survivor's story. You will also learn about the Hub itself, discovering the incredible organizations and activities hosted here, many of which proudly support Ealing's Black communities.
Supporting a Great Cause:
During the walk, a group member will carry a collection box for Maggie’s Charity. Founded by a breast cancer patient and her husband, Maggie’s provides essential support to anyone affected by cancer—including patients, survivors, family, and friends. Our collection will be hand-delivered to the nearest Maggie’s Centre at Charing Cross Hospital in Hammersmith (stay tuned—we may organize a group trip there together in November with GOSAD's support!).
Optional Social:After the talks conclude, you are warmly invited to stay on and join us at a local café to chat, connect, and enjoy a drink together.
Please Note: Event details may be altered depending on conditions. Please check this overview page just before the event day and keep an eye on your emails from Talking & Exploring for any last-minute updates.
