Bowcombe Valley Archaeology Walk - 3.5 miles

From Carisbrooke Castle we descend into the Bowcombe Valley, walking past Roman villas and settlements. Meandering our way alongside the Lukely Brook, we shall see how this ancient waterway carved out this important landscape.

Length of walk: 3.5 miles (approx 2 hours)

Walk Leader: Kelly Wetherick

Walk Cost: Paid walk - £6 payable in cash to Walk Leader on the day (exact cash please)

Type of Walk: Circular

Start / Finish location: Priory Car park (behind Carisbrooke Castle), Whitcombe Rd, Newport PO30 1YS (SZ 489 875)

Pace of Walk: Gentle - This walk will follow a gentle pace.

Walk grade: Fairly Easy - Gentle, rolling landscape, walking on paths with good to average surfaces. Some walking on gentle inclines, some stiles or steps to be expected en route.

Mobility level: Walkers need to be reasonably agile and mobile. Not suitable for walkers with mobility impairment of any kind.
