Botanical watercolour workshop - Mistletoe with Karen GreenSaturday 5th December 2026

Working from the mistletoe plant, you will learn how to compose, draw and paint from observation, using watercolour, to create a botanical painting that reflects an understanding of the subject whilst capturing the beauty of the plant.
Karen, a botanical artist, will ease you into the workshop with some playful sketching exercises alongside some botany exploration to help lead you into observational drawing and creating interesting compositions on the page. With one to one support and class demonstrations, you will experiment with watercolour techniques and accurate colour mixing, focusing on the colour green, bright and muted, and how to tackle painting white using botanical greys. During the session you will familiarize yourself with the materials and tools needed for botanical art and the techniques used such as ‘glazing’, slowly building up layers of paint to create luminosity and depth.
