Botanical Resonance is an immersive soundscape exploring the intersection of nature, technology, meditative practice, and sensory immersion. Electrical activity from living plants is translated into music and woven together in real time with singing bowls, chimes, percussion, and ambient electronic sound.
Working improvisationally, the artist listens and responds to the shifting plant-generated composition, creating an evolving sonic exchange between plant, technology, instrument, and performer. Because the plants' electrical activity and the artist's responses continually change, no two performances unfold in exactly the same way.
Part performance, part meditation, and part experiment in deep listening, Botanical Resonance invites audiences to slow down and inhabit sound differently—to experience listening not simply as a passive act, but as a form of attention, curiosity, and connection. The work considers what might emerge when we create not only about the natural world, but in collaboration with it, opening space to contemplate our relationship with the living systems around us.
About the Artist
Raven Bishop is an artist based on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Her work examines the interplay between mindfulness, ceremony and connection to the natural world. She explores these themes through a feminist lens, leveraging a variety of media and modalities, delving into the personal and panoptic through ritual, performance, sound, poetry, prose, digital collage, and sculptural ephemera.
