Bossaphonik reaches the milestone of 22 years and we'll be celebrating on Friday 16th October! This will be the 265th Bossaphonik event and we'll be marking the occasion in style by hosting one of the most compelling and forward-thinking bands to have emerged from the UK - Ibibio Sound Machine.The band are cited as titans of Afro-futurism - a genre-defying sound blending West African rhythms with electronic textures, disco, post-punk and global club energy into a sound that's as powerful on record as it is explosive live.
Founded in London in 2013 around the magnetic vocals of British-Nigerian frontwoman Eno Williams and co-founder Max Grunhard, the 8 piece ensemble have built a formidable body of work and a loyal global following. This September the band released their 6th LP, "Chopping Mountain" and are taking a 15-date autumn UK tour followed by a European run of dates in early 2027. The album is a departure from a previous more club-focused sound and draws on more earthy textures of classic West African highlife alongside, Afrobeat, soul and electronic music. The album has been receiving rave reviews and has been put on the BBC6 Music playlist with added plays from DJs such as Craig Charles, Gilles Peterson and Femi Koleoso.
The band have performed around the globe including high profile sets at Glastonbury, Womad (UK, Australia and New Zealand), Wilderness, 6Music Festival, Green Man and many more as well as supporting Coldplay at Wembley Stadium and appearing on Later...with Jools Holland twice.

Following the joy of Ibibio Sound Machine will be a Bossaphonik club session with DJs Badger and Bossaphonik Dan. They will treat the dancefloor til 1:30am to the sounds of:

Cowley Workers Social Club, Between Towns Road OX4 3LZ. Buses 1 and 5 from city centre go up Cowley and back til 2:55am, stopping opposite the venue.
8pm - 1:30am. Band onstage at 9:30pm
