Share your books on money, finance, and investing with other women, hear their take, and borrow one you haven’t read to take home.
About this Event

What it is

Money Action's Book Share is a relaxed meetup where women share their books on money, finance, and investing, and borrow one to take home.

Unlike a book club, nobody has to read the same book. Everyone brings their own books to share, so you can ask about the lessons and key takeaways before deciding which one you'd like to borrow.

How it works

  1. Arrive and settle in. Quick hellos and introductions.
  2. Tell us about a book. Each person takes a minute or two to talk about a book they brought: what it’s about, one idea or lesson that stuck with them, and who it might suit.
  3. Browse and chat. All the books go on the table. Pick them up, flip through, and ask the owners about any that catch your eye.
  4. Borrow. Once you’ve heard everyone, put a post-it with your name on the book you’d like most. If you’re the only one, it’s yours. If more than one person wants it, we’ll do a lucky draw, and anyone who misses out picks again from the books still on the table. If you didn’t bring a book, you’ll have to wait until everyone else has chosen.
  5. Share why. We finish with a short round where everyone shares why they chose the book they did, and what action they hope it will help them take.

What to bring

  • At least one physical book about money, finance, or investing that taught you something. The more books on the table, the more choice everyone has.
  • They can be new or well-loved, as long as they're in readable condition.

Housekeeping rules

  • Bring your books. Share one or many. Topic has to be related to money, finance, or investing.
  • Borrow one. You can only take home one book that isn't yours.
  • Your books stay yours. Any of your books that aren’t borrowed go home with you at the end. We keep a simple list of who owns each borrowed book and who has it now.
  • Read at your own pace. Bring your borrowed book back to a future session to return or swap for another.
  • Take good care of your borrowed book. Do not write on or fold the pages. If a book you borrowed gets lost or damaged, please replace it or agree a fair alternative with the owner. We will only step in if an agreement can't be reached.
  • Don't have a book to share? You’re still very welcome to join, but please note that those who bring books will have priority choice for borrowing.
  • Want your books back? Let us know when you’d like to get your books back and we’ll connect you with the people who have them at the time.
  • Want to leave the group? HK is a transient place and life happens. If you no longer want to be part of the group please let us know and we will arrange to return your books and collect the borrowed book from you.

Who it’s for

Women who want to get more confident with money, finance, and investing, and enjoy learning from others. You don’t need any financial knowledge. Just come curious.

If you're running late you may miss some of the book chats, but come anyway!
