Bookmark, Charlottetown’s independent bookstore, is pleased to be hosting the launch of Troy Little’s new graphic novel Levada on Thursday, November 19th at 7 pm in the bookshop at 111 Kent Street. Troy will be talking about the inspiration that led to the book’s creation, the hiking trip behind the book, and signing copies. This event is free and open to everyone. In the graphic novel Levada, an unlikely pair of characters cross paths while hiking on the beautiful island of Madeira, Portugal. What follows is a meditation on the idealism of youth and the lessons of a life lived. Author and artist Troy Little spent his 50th birthday on a quiet, 7-day solo hike around the island, sketching and reflecting on life. This graphic novella was inspired and informed by that trip. The book is presented and bound like a travel journal, reflecting the sketchbook nature of his journey.
TROY LITTLE is a comic writer, artist and publisher from Prince Edward Island. His works include The Powerpuff Girls, Rick & Morty, a Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas adaptation, Kevin Eastman’s Radically Rearranged Ronin Ragdolls and, most recently, as artist on the hit Cult of the Lamb series. He’s also the creator of Chiaroscuro, the Angora Napkin trilogy and Butterfly House, with his wife Brenda Hickey. Troy has been nominated four times for the Eisner Awards as well as the Harvey, Ringo, Doug Wright and Sequential Awards. He is the co-founder of Pegamoose Press.
