About this Event
Come for the Story. Stay for the Party. Help the legacy live on.
Melanie is the founder of Zen Collective, which includes a Yoga Studio and Retreat spaces. Through these spaces, she facilitates yoga classes, meditation, Reiki, self-care workshops, and wellness retreats throughout the year. A retired elementary school teacher, Melanie has transformed her lifelong passion for health, healing, and mindfulness into a career dedicated to helping others find peace and resilience.
Three years ago, she experienced the heartbreaking loss of her Mom, her best friend. During her final month in hospice, Melanie rarely left her side, staying with her around the clock until her passing. Witnessing someone you love suffer and eventually take their last breath, is an experience that changes you forever, and the debilitating grief she carried was unlike anything she had ever known. It challenged her faith, shifted her perspective on life, and led her through a deeply personal journey of healing.
Throughout that time in hospice, Melanie experienced moments of reflection, contemplation, and a series of vivid dreams that ultimately inspired her to write a book. Now, after years of healing, she is ready to share that journey with others.
Her beautifully illustrated book, currently being published, is considered a children's picture book, however the story speaks even more profoundly to adults who are losing or have lost a loved one. Its purpose is to offer support, hope, and reassurance to anyone navigating grief and death.
Melanie is honoured to share this story in community and in hopes that this event will provide comfort and meaningful conversation.
One of Melanie's greatest hopes is to place copies of The Queen's Guardian into the hands of people and organizations supporting families through grief and loss. Funds raised through this event will help do that.
We truly believe this will be a heartfelt and impactful event, and we can't wait to share it with everyone.
