About this Event
The art school has had a fundamental effect on society across the globe, influencing how the creative arts are represented and perceived. As reduced governmental funding in the UK is placing arts education in crisis, Architectures of Art and Design Education: An exploration of UK and international design schools explores the concept of the ‘art school’ and how the spaces of the physical studio and workshop impact the design, making and teaching curriculum. As the current art educational landscape is drastically shifting, the book is a timely reflection on current social and political trends and emphasises the importance that the art school can still play by developing new art practices and creative industries that are reflective and required in contemporary society. Beautifully illustrated, with both archival and contemporary photographs, many taken by the authors, Architectures of Art and Design Education celebrates the spaces dedicated to learning and teaching within the creative disciplines.
