About this Event
We are delighted to be hosting the launch for the latest release from Epoque Press, Xanthosis by Andrew Asibong.
About the book: Following the introduction of the Lionheart Laws, which have unleashed a wave of racialised violence, four outsiders must come to terms with what it means to be foreign in a homeland which now rejects them.
Ousted academic Ashley, washed-up politician Clarissa, exiled psychotherapist Alix and disgraced boxer Steven must walk a tightrope between attempted conformity and hostile discrimination, whilst dealing with the worsening symptoms of xanthosis, a strange virus of the psyche that has afflicted them for as long as they can remember.
Xanthosis is a mind-bending web of interconnected narratives about the spectre of neo-fascism haunting Britain.
About the author: Andrew Asibong is a writer and psychotherapist of English, Greek and West African descent. His publications include fiction (Mameluke Bath, 2013), literary analysis (Marie NDiaye: Blankness and Recognition, 2013) and psycho-cultural theory (Post-Traumatic Attachments to the Eerily Moving Image, 2021). He holds a first-class degree in Modern Languages from Oxford University and an MA and PhD in French literature from King’s College London. Xanthosis is Andrew's second novel.
