About this Event
You’ve got work friends, childhood friends, and then there’s us: your book friends. The people you’ve traded recommendations with, argued about endings with, and maybe only ever met over a book.
Book Friends is really just us wanting all of you in one room, and wanting you to finally meet each other properly. Before the year wraps up, come swap books, meet the partners who made our year, eat something good and chat with people who read like you do.
If you’ve been meaning to come to one of our gatherings but haven’t quite made it yet, this is a good one to start with. Easy, low-key, no reading list required.
What’s happening
Book Swap (Free, all you need to bring is a book, or three)
Bring a book you’re ready to let go of, and leave with one you didn’t know you needed. Clear some space on your shelf and give a good book some extra shelf life. Fiction only, please!
Smut Swap Corner (Free)
A little corner for the spicier side of your shelf, run by April of Intuitively April and Smut Appeal. Bring the ones you’ve read (and maybe reread), swap them for something new, and get recommendations from someone who knows exactly where the good chapters are. No judgement, no awkward explanations.
Book Giving Corner (Advance purchase required, $35)
Take home a blind date with a book, picked and wrapped by us, with a few handwritten cues so you know just enough to be curious. It comes with a personalised bookmark, hand-lettered in calligraphy on the spot, plus a drink on us while you wait. Slots are limited, so book now before it books out!
Tarot with Min of On the Cards (pay on the spot)
Pull up a chair and let the cards have their say. Ask about love, work, or what to read next.
Colour Analysis with Felicia (Pay on the spot)
Find the colours that actually work for you and your wardrobe, so getting dressed feels like a joy, not a chore.
Upcycling Corner + Fashion Parade (Pay on the spot, $10)
Turn fabric scraps into a book band or bookmark charm, no sewing needed. Pick colours and textures inspired by a story you love, then show off your look in our little fashion parade.
Treats & Goodies (Pay on the spot, so get your wallet or phone ready!)
That Banana Bread Company: proof that overripe bananas have the best second acts
All in the Corner: matcha for when the plot slows down and you need a pick-me-up
Sarah’s Pasta: homemade pasta to take home, so dinner’s sorted before you’ve even left
CravinSpace: book sleeves and bookmarks, for books that travel more than you do
Grazing Table (Free, pace yourself, there’s a lot to get through)
