Finding community and togetherness through books! This month's pick: Detransition, Baby by Torrey Peters
About this Event
About the Book Club:
Are you a friend of Dorothy? This question became popular in the military for gay men trying to identify each other discretely when being gay was grounds for dishonorable discharge. Dorothy (Gale), portrayed by Judy Garland, an icon in the queer community, is a name covert enough to pass, but queer enough for the in crowd.
Friends of Dorothy is a monthly conversation focused on LGBTQ+ books at Tiger Moth Mercantile hosted by Izzy, a queer, nonbinary Carnegie local. All those willing to respect other members, the authors/their stories, and the space graciously provided by Woolly Bear Books and Tiger Moth Mercantile are welcome to join.
Meeting at Tiger Moth Mercantile in Carnegie, PA at 6:30pm each month, we will discuss diverse stories from inclusive queer and trans* authors.
Our next discussion will be November 19th where we will be reading Detransition, Baby by Torrey Peters.
