Looking to Start a 20s Book Club in Wilmington!My friend and I (both in our mid 20’s) are starting a book club in the Wilmington area and are looking for other people in their 20s who are genuinely interested in reading and discussing books regularly.
We’re hoping to create a smaller, consistent group that reads around 1–2 books each month and meets on Sunday afternoons, most likely around 4 PM.
The main focus of our meetings will be the books we’re reading. We want to actually discuss them; what we liked and disliked, characters, themes, writing, plot, different interpretations, and everyone’s overall rating. Members will also be able to recommend books and help choose what we read next.
We’d also love to occasionally have reading sessions where we meet somewhere and read together, visit bookstores, or have a movie day after finishing a book with a film adaptation.
We’re looking for people who:
• Are in their 20s
• Genuinely enjoy reading and can commit to approximately 1–2 books per month
• Want to participate in book discussions rather than treating meetings primarily as social gatherings
• Are open to reading different genres and authors
• Will make a reasonable effort to attend meetings consistently
• Are respectful of different opinions and interpretations
All genders are welcome, and the group will be LGBTQ+ inclusive. Our events will also be alcohol-free and non profit.
We definitely want everyone to become comfortable with each other and have fun! Friendships are more than welcome but we just want to keep the actual club meetings centered around reading and discussing the selected book.
Our first meeting will be October 26th at 4pm in the Northeast Nee Hanover County library in room Watkins. The first meeting would be an introduction to the club, getting to know everyone’s reading interests, establishing how we’ll choose books, and selecting our first read together.
