BodyWise: Connect to the Wisdom Within Through Play
Advertisement
We'll invite the power & wisdom of play into our lives, building resilience to meet the beauty & complexity of life with more ease, grace & joy!
InterPlay is a powerful practice rooted in PLAY and CONNECTION from the inside-out! It invites us to play with our birthright - yes birthright - of word, song, storytelling, movement, dance and stillness. In simply playing, witnessing and noticing ourselves and one another, we begin to invite our innate body-wisdom to speak and offer insight. The practice of InterPlay invites more connection, ease, affirmation, joy and resilience into our lives.
By engaging with the incremental and playful forms (practices) and tools (philosophies) of InterPlay we can make space for the deeply insightful to authentically silly. Through our playing together we can begin to imagine, embody and draw on play to navigate the beauty and complexity of life in these wild times.
By playing in community, our personal and collective pearls-of-play-wisdom can enable us to create a more free, just, healthy and liberated existence for us all.
During our play time together we will:
- Invite the whole of ourselves to come and play - our inner child, sage, grump, clown, critiquer, dreamer, community weaver
- Take time to express what is alive within us through sound, word, story, movement, dance & stillness from the truly mundane to the remarkably extravagant
- Share, witness and notice together in our playing
- Release stress, rest & resource together
- Connect with the land, listen and learn from her wisdom
- Learn more about how to care of our bodies-spirits while working toward justice for all
- Experience a sense of play and curiosity that we can keep attuning to & nurturing in our daily lives and communities
WHO IS THIS FOR?
We warmly welcome folx of all grooves and moves to come play...
…feel too serious? Your hidden funny bone is welcome.
…feel too shy? Your incremental self is welcome.
…feel un-fun? Your exactly-as-you-are-ness is welcome.

InterPlay is a practice that any body can do! No specific play or creative experience needed - your life experience is plenty! The workshop space is one that strives to be socially just and inclusive to all, taking into consideration diversity around all aspects of identity.

THE ORIGIN STORY
InterPlay is a worldwide community of artist-activists who believe in the power of creative expression for community transformation. Developed over the last thirty-five years by Phil Porter and Cynthia Winton-Henry, InterPlay is a practice that teaches groups and individuals to tap into their artistic authority to connect to oneself, others and community. We also honour the many indigenous wisdom traditions that have been attuned to the wisdom of creative expression in and for community well-being for millenia. For more info about InterPlay visit www.interplay.org
natty abdou danced her way into the InterPlay community in 2015 and has since had a quirky and wonderful journey as an InterPlay leader, supporting the millennials Arts & Social Change program, various Life Practice Programs, BIPOC Retreats and working as the Racial Equity & Transformation (RET) Committee Coordinator and serving on the board for 3 years. Having played in Canada, the USA, Egypt and Mexico, natty loves attuning to the brilliant and quirky body-wisdom that each community and land brings to the surface.
