We invite you to join us in this sacred joyous occasion of honoring our own ancestors as well as the collective.Between October 31st and November 2nd, many cultures across the world honor and remember their ancestors and deceased loved ones. Most of us are familiar with the Day of the Dead in Mexico or the Christian All Soul’s Day. It is time to offer our own version of this in the community. We invite you to join us in this sacred, joyous occasion of honoring our own ancestors as well as the collective.
We will begin with a Bobinsana tea ceremony leading into our ancestral remembrance. Bobinsana is a flowering tree, native to the Amazon basin, and has long been valued as a plant teacher associated with the heart, emotional openness, compassion, dreams, and deeper connection with nature and spirit. The teaching essence of this plant medicine allows us to create an opportunity to move into our heart space and experience a deeper connection with self and the world around us.
As we share Bobinsana tea together, we will enter into a slower, more intentional space, one where we can soften, listen inwardly, and become receptive to the wisdom and love that may arise through remembrance. The tea will serve as a ceremonial ally and focal point for our practice, inviting us to bring awareness to the heart and to create space for whatever emotions, memories, gratitude, or ancestral connections are ready to be felt. Rather than seeking to force an experience, we will allow the ceremony to unfold gently, honoring each person's unique relationship with their lineage and ancestors.
Through meditation, intention, prayer, reflection, and sacred connection, we will create a space to:
-Honor and remember our ancestors
-Acknowledge the lineage from which we come
-Open toward gratitude, compassion, and love
-Make space for grief, remembrance, and emotional release
-Reflect upon the gifts and wisdom carried through our ancestral lines
-Connect more deeply with our own hearts and inner knowing
-Consider what we wish to carry forward
-Reflect on the legacy we wish to leave as an ancestor to our lineage someday
Please bring a photo or object of a loved one you would like to honor for the altar. It can be anyone - family, friend, teacher. We will pay our respects and honor them by sharing stories in sacred space and offer prayers for all who have passed.
Please note the following tips for a more comfortable experience:
*Please make sure you bring water for yourself to consume throughout the evening.
*Please dress comfortably; we suggest layers that can easily be removed or added.
You are not required to consume Bobinsana Tea in order to participate in this event.
