THE ART OF BUILDING SOMETHING
What does it really take to turn your creative passion into a multiple-seven-figure business?
More than 20 years ago, Nathan Hunter was an artist with an unconventional idea and the determination to make it work.
Today, he's the founder of Nathan Hunter Design, an award-winning furniture design company based in Bloomington, Indiana, with a talented team and clients around the world.
But the road between those two points was anything but straightforward.
One of Nathan's earliest commissions was a dining table and twelve chairs, even though he'd never built a chair.
Then came the Great Recession. Nathan and his wife, Amanda, nearly closed the business. They gave themselves three more months.
More than two decades later, they're building a family legacy.
Join us for a fireside chat with Nathan Hunter, hosted by Chelsea Sanders, as we explore the real story behind turning an artistic pursuit into a successful, multiple-seven-figure business.
We'll talk about the risks, the financial realities, the turning points, and the lessons learned along the way. From doing everything himself to hiring a team, building systems, finding customers, and learning how to grow a business without losing the creative vision that started it all.
We'll also explore how Nathan's definition of success has evolved, from making beautiful things to building something meaningful that can last for generations.
Because being a talented artist and knowing how to build a successful business are two very different things.
And learning how to do both can change everything.
Whether you're an artist, entrepreneur, small business owner, or someone with an idea you've been dreaming about bringing to life, this conversation is for you.
Creativity. Risk. Money. Growth. Legacy.
Come for the coffee. Leave with a new perspective on what's possible.

Nathan Hunter
Artist, Furniture Designer & Founder of Nathan Hunter Design
Nathan Hunter is an artist, furniture designer, and entrepreneur whose work bridges the worlds of sculpture, architecture, and fine craftsmanship. For more than 20 years, he has built Nathan Hunter Design into an established contemporary furniture studio in Bloomington, Indiana, where he leads a team of skilled makers creating original pieces for clients across the United States and around the world.
A classically trained pianist who later explored filmmaking, Nathan found his creative calling in furniture design. His collections include distinctive dining tables, seating, and custom furnishings that balance artistic expression with everyday function. Each is conceived as a modern heirloom, made to be lived with and passed down through generations.
What began as an unconventional creative pursuit has evolved into a thriving family business and a legacy shaped by artistry, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Nathan’s remarkable entrepreneurial journey is the subject of an Emmy Award-winning film.
