Join Black Lives Matter 757 (BLM757) as they march in solidarity with the nation and Mississippi for Nolan Wells, beginning at 2 pm on Sunday, November 1, at the MLK Memorial at Martin Luther King Park, 701 Church Street, Norfolk, VA. Meet up at 2 pm. The march should begin at 3 pm. For more information and to RSVP, text 757-696-9730. During the march, activists will demand further investigation into the death of Nolan Wells, an 18-year-old from Ocean Springs whose body was found off Mississippi’s Gulf Coast in July. They will be calling for greater transparency surrounding the circumstances of his death.
Wells was reported missing July 4 after traveling with friends to Horn Island, off the Mississippi coast. His body was recovered two days later. In September, a Jackson County grand jury declined to indict any of Wells' friends or anyone else in connection with his death, finding no credible evidence of criminal conduct, although the official cause and manner of death remain undetermined.
Wells’ family and their attorney, civil rights lawyer Ben Crump, have publicly questioned the investigation and continued to seek answers about his death.
