Galleri Image is proud to present the second edition of Blik! Photobook Festival from 29 October – 1 November 2026.
Blik! is a festival dedicated to the photobook as a medium of artistic creation and storytelling. The name comes from the Danish word for gaze — a fitting expression of our mission to look closely at photobooks, artist’s books, and other visual art publications. That is, books that are both works of art in their own right and accessible storytelling devices for everyone interested in books, photography and culture.
The festival is completely free and everyone is welcome!

Blik! 2026 Programme Friday 30 October

16:00 Students of the LCI Barcelona: Presentation of results on an investigation about bookstores and the photobook medium
17:00 Petra Franke: Collaborative bookshops. A case study on Buchladen Die Zeitgenossen eG. in Esslingen, Germany

EXHIBITIONS
Supermarket by Johan Rosenmunthe
Even your most precious artists’ books are carried in the same tote bag as groceries for tomorrow’s lunchbox-prep and the party hats for next week’s Friday bar. Artists’ books should be everyday objects that we surround ourselves with, touch and enjoy as frequently as our favourite supermarket stables. That’s the power of artists’ books – they are democratic and easily accessible (at least more than traditional gallery artworks) at the same time as being an original work from the artist’s own hands. In this installation, artists’ books are displayed alongside groceries in a supermarket setup. Additionally, two receipt printers are working on publishing new artworks, commissioned from artists Michala Paludan and Marianne Vierø
The Polish Photobook: Solidarność
The exhibition, curated by Łukasz Gorczyca and Adam Mazur, presents fifteen photographic publications issued in Poland between 1905 and 2021, which accompanied significant moments of human solidarity. They range from national and patriotic demonstrations on the eve of Poland regaining independence, through workers’ strikes and the opposition movement of the 1980s, to contemporary protests and the so-called Women’s Strike.
By presenting this selection, they wish to emphasise the role that photographic brochures and books play in social life. They are not merely documents of grassroots protest and resistance to authority, but also tools in the struggle to preserve identity, dignity and freedom. Some of the publications gathered here are printed materials of a very particular kind, produced and distributed through the underground publishing circuit, beyond state control and censorship.
Imagine(d) History
Today, History is not merely written, documented, believed and taught. It can be artificially produced, ranked, sampled, commented on, screenshotted, and remixed. Its credibility no longer stems exclusively from truth or institutional authority, but from an unstable interplay of hearsay, repetition, social proximity, platform design and machine-generated content that circulates within the filter bubbles.
This exhibition presents a dozen photobooks that tell History and histories, juxtaposed with a large-format collage intended to illustrate how historiography functions today. The photobooks are displayed in open display cases and were selected jointly by Adam Mazur and Moritz Neumüller. These publications are not merely examples of ‘historical photography’ but demonstrate how a photobook can convey history… with all the advantages and disadvantages of an artistic visual medium.
The festival will also include photobooks from Blow-Up Press provided by Aneta Kowalczyk and Grzegorz Kosmala, Pierre Van Kleist, and STET – livros & fotografias.

About Blik!
Building on more than a decade of experience with Photobook Week Aarhus, Blik! launched in 2025 with a new focus and a global vision. “Blik” is the Danish word for “gaze”, and with this name, we continue our work in the field of photobooks, artist’s books and other publications in the visual arts that we started with Photobook Week Aarhus. As has been the case in the past decade, our focus is international, and we investigate the past and the future, in order to position ourselves and the medium in the present moment.
Keep an eye on our website blikfest.org for more information, and to see the rest of the programme for the weekend.
