What if one basket could make someone's Thanksgiving a little brighter?
More than 30 years ago, during our first year in America, someone gave our family a Thanksgiving basket. We were new to the country, Thanksgiving was unfamiliar, and that simple gesture made us feel welcomed, remembered, and cared for.
We never forgot that kindness.
Years later, that memory inspired Blessing Baskets, a community Thanksgiving giving initiative that brings neighbors, families, friends, and local businesses together to help families in need.
What began with 118 baskets in 2023 grew to 468 baskets in 2025. This year, we're hoping to reach 750 Thanksgiving baskets, and we'd love for you to be part of it!
How You Can Make a Difference
It's simple. Gather your family, friends, coworkers, or neighbors and put together a complete Thanksgiving basket for a local family.
Here's how to participate:
- Sign up: Complete our Blessing Baskets participation form so we can plan for your contribution.
- Fill a basket: Use our Thanksgiving basket shopping list to assemble a complete holiday meal.
- Drop it off: Bring your basket to Lake Braddock Secondary School on November 14.
- Pass it forward: Invite someone else to fill a basket, too!
