Wut up Kinfolk!!BLD PWR is pulling up for AFROTECH Week 2026 in Houston for one powerful day of culture, community, storytelling, music, and connection.
For one day, we’re bringing you into **The SLAB** — our Houston-rooted cultural hub and gathering space.
The SLAB is named after Houston’s iconic slab culture: customized cars that became a movement of unapologetic Black presence, ownership, and protection.
For us, SLAB means:
**Slow. Loud. And Building.**
Slow down enough to be in community.
Loud enough that nobody misses what we’re saying about Black power and liberation.
And Building, because that is the actual work needed to achieve and sustain power.
### What’s Going Down
On **Thursday, November 5**, we’re taking over The SLAB for a full day and night of experiences:
✨ 2:00 PM Movie **Screening + Storytelling**
✨ 4:30 PM **The Living Room Experience** — conversation, connection, and community
✨ 7:00 PM**The Session R&B Jam** — closing out the night with a live music experience
✨ **Music, Dancing, and Good Energy**
✨ **Partner Activations** — connecting you with organizations doing the work in our communities
✨ **Food, Drank, and Thangs**
✨ **Community-building with BLD PWR partners and Kinfolk**
### One Day at The SLAB
From daytime conversations and storytelling to music and community at night, The SLAB will be alive with culture, connection, creativity, and Houston energy.
Come ready to slow down.
Come ready to get loud.
Come ready to build.
And most importantly...**come be in the number.**
