Durham Centre for Theosophical Studies will hold an in person meeting at the Waddington Street, URC church Durham City, upstairs in the Woods Room. The title of the topic is "Blavatsky, G.R.S. Mead and the Pistis Sophia".
During the final years of her life, Blavatsky became interested in the Pistis Sophia and working with her secretary, G.R.S. Mead, they proceeded to begin a translation into English. Mead's translation is still the most accessible English translation of the Pistis Sophia. In this talk and workshop, we will explore how the Theosophical Society was instrumental in introducing this Gnostic work. We will also explore examples of who early Gnostics may have used this work in practice.
