This slightly shorter route is ideal for those whose horses are building fitness. Starting from Middleton Top and approx 6 miles long this ride incorporates what, is in my opinion, the most scenic portion of the High Peak Trail with commanding views across the valley to Matlock and beyond. Taking in part of the Midshires way and bridleways across open fields where there is an opportunity to canter if all riders are happy, it's a truly stunning route. The route passes through an area with a history which is closely linked to the events upon which Remembrance Sunday is focused. A brief stop will be made at Steeple Grange Light Railway for the Remembrance event by the commemorative headstone, shown in the event photo. Continuing on the ride, your guide will highlight points of interest and fill you in on the industrial history at the heart of the Remembrance story. This ride may include a cafe stop. Worth noting:
In order to arrive on time for the Remembrance event, the ride will move out at 10.30am prompt. It is not possible on this occasion to wait for latecomers, for any reason.
The High Peak Trail is a multi-user trail and you will encounter bikes and walkers with dogs.
Bridleways on this route cross farmland which may contain livestock such as Cows and Sheep.
There are some small sections of roadwork on this ride.
All riders must have their own BHS Gold or equivalent Public Liability Insurance. Under 18's are welcome but on their first visit, must be accompanied on the ride by an adult rider. Group size limited to 6+guide(s).
