⏰ 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 Historic Leonard Reid House | Sarasota, FL
Celebrate culture, creativity, community, and the many ways we experience BLACK JOY! ❤️🖤💚
Join us at the Historic Leonard Reid House for the opening of our new Black Joy art exhibition, featuring talented local artists whose work celebrates the beauty and richness of Black identity, faith, rest, pride, culture, and self-expression.
Then, let the celebration continue at the Black Joy Fest & Expo! Bring the entire family for an afternoon filled with:
🎨 Inspiring local art and creativity
🎶 Live music and entertainment
🍽️ Delicious food from local cooks
🛍️ Shopping with local vendors and young entrepreneurs
📚 A special youth story-writing contest
❤️ Community, connection, and plenty of Black Joy!
📚 Calling All Young Storytellers!
Does your elementary school student love writing short stories? Encourage them to participate in our Youth Story-Writing Contest! Ten students will be selected for an exciting opportunity to share their stories in an interview with Mr. Stevie and Friends for the Live at the Reid House streaming event and live-view podcast.
Let's celebrate the imagination, creativity, and voices of our young people!
📩 Interested in becoming a vendor or learning more about the festival? Contact Melanie Thomas at [email protected].
✍🏾 For information about the youth story-writing contest, contact Mydahlia Glover at [email protected].
Bring your family, invite your friends, support local artists and small businesses, and help us celebrate the joy, talent, and creativity that make our community special.
Come for the art. Stay for the celebration. Leave with a little more JOY!
We look forward to seeing you there! 🎉
