The campfire tale of the ‘Candyman’ explores trauma, holds up a mirror to society and tells stories of all too-realistic injustices that happened in Cabrini Green. Chicago’s architecture and equally rich Black heritage serve as a backdrop to setting and subtext alike.Tony Todd is widely regarded as one of THE Black horror household names, and this Candyman double-bill is a wonderful way to honour his legacy this Black History Month.
