Commemorating Eric and Jessica Huntley, the Bogle L'Ouverture bookshop and existing organisations and individuals from the Black communityA FREE WALK in collaboration with GOS&D (Global Opportunites Skills and Development) and funded by Ealing Council Health and Social Care
- Sign up on Eventbrite at https://shorturl.at/Dtkzt
We meet outside West Ealing Community Library from where we will set off on our walk exploring the streets of West Ealing and paying tribute especially to the Huntleys, Eric and Jessica, who for many years ran the Bogle L'Ouverture Bookshop in Chignell Place.
They also collected a huge archive of materials relating to the Caribbean and Black presence in the U.K. which is now housed in the London Metropolitan Archives in Farringdon.
We will find others from the black community on the way to pay our respects to and we may also be able to visit the new West London mosque (all to be arranged).
We will end our walk at 1 Bayham Road which is the home of a number of community organisations but especially of GOS&D .
As usual with our walks we will finally seek a local cafe/restaurant for an optional chill and chat.
A few more things:
Our walks are as much about sharing what we know and making new friends as they are about learning about the places we see, topics we explore, and from the people we visit.
Pictures are taken during our walks and some of the walk may be recorded so please let us know if you do not want to be included.
You take part in our events at your own risk although we take all the precautions to assess the route prior to the walks.
As it is a walking tour, please make sure you wear suitable footwear and clothing, and be especially careful on this route as there are some uneven surfaces.
If you can no longer attend, please cancel your ticket or notify us so we could offer your place to someone else.
Please email us if you have any questions regarding the walk and check your mailbox before the walk.
You can find Talking and Exploring on social media: website, Facebook, Instagram, Google and join our fanpage to see and share pictures, posts and comments or reviews.
Feel welcome to contact us to arrange a bespoke tour for your group or to sponsor a walk arranged and led by us.
